From 2008 to 2016, voice search queries multiplied by 35 times, in 2020, 50% of search queries will be done with voice. The developments in the field of AI and PCs (including internet search) will turn out to be better at intuiting the meaning, however the intent behind the content on the web. It currently focuses on immersive experiences that use augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, multi-channel human-machine interfaces, and sensing technologies. AI enabled conversational platforms have changed the way in which people interact with the digital world. Beyond conversations, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) are changing how people perceive the digital world. This combined shift in both perception and interaction will result in the future multi-sensory and multi-modal experience. Over the next decade, this trend will become what is known as ambient experience.

5G is not just another generation of wireless connectivity – it will have an incredibly broad scope, supporting billions of connected devices and services across a wide range of industry sectors. It will enable the development and deployment of developing innovations such as IoT (Internet of Things) technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). What’s more, it will provide the backbone for the smart cities and autonomous vehicles of the future. Though the impact of 5G will be huge, it will be gradual. Roll-out will begin in 2020, it will take some years before the next-gen networks are commonplace. 5G connections are forecast to reach 1.2 billion by 2025, accounting for 14 per cent of the total connections at that time, according to a report from the mobile technology trade association GSMA.
Self-driving cars/Electric vehicles
LiDAR startups developing sensors for self-driving cars are expected to undergo a shakeout as the technology has struggled to live up to its early promise. By some estimates, more than 50 such startups exist. LiDAR, short for Light Detection and Ranging, uses light lasers that bounce off objects to create a three-dimensional representation of a vehicle's surroundings. Some of these startups will be targeted by automakers and Tier 1 suppliers, while others will run out of money. A leader in the space is Velodyne LiDAR, which is expected to raise capital on the public markets via an IPO this year.

Technology in medicine
One of the tech trends in 2020 will be sophistication of technology upgrades in the medical field. 3D printing will open a new business of advanced prosthetics as many universities are expanding their research in 3D printing of bionic body parts. Scientists at Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, for instance, have 3D printed a "bionic ear" that can "hear" radio frequencies far beyond the range of normal human capability. Similarly, telemedicine and virtual diagnosis powered by AI and AR will need businesses to rework their business model in medicine.
